LGBT Fundraising Formal @ Fitz

Me again! I’ve been voted in by a landslide majority over no other candidates as the LGBT rep at St Ed’s for another year. Yay! Here’s the first event on the new calendar. Hope to see many of you there.
-Fiona.

David Kato Fundraising Formal Hall in Fitzwilliam College

Time: Thursday, March 3 · 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Location: Fitzwilliam College

We’re very excited to announce that we’re hosting a black tie fundraising formal at Fitzwilliam college!

Fiona & Dominik from Fitz have booked the entire hall and organised a wonderful event, including pre-dinner drinks at the Fitz MCR.

Please join us for excellent food, interesting conversations and, of course, to show your support for a good cause!

The ticket price is just £12, and £3.40 out of every ticket is collected as a donation to the David Kato Fundraising Campaign.

The Campaign is raising funds in honor of murdered activist David Kato in order to support the organization Sexual Minorities Uganda as well as to support LGBT refugees from Africa who have had to flee their countries because of persecution, violence and threats to their lives.

To support this cause and spend a nice evening with your friends, join us for BYOB pre-dinner drinks at 19:00 PM in the Fitz MCR and for the formal in the lovely Fitz Hall. Fiona and Dominik will meet up with people at the North Plodge of Fitzwilliam College (on Huntington Road) at 18:55 PM to take you to the MCR.

The dress code for the dinner is black tie, gown optional, and we ask you to bring along your own wine or to buy it at the bar.

——————————————————————————————

So…. if you’re sold on the event, how can you get your tickets? 🙂

——————————————————————————————-

To get your tickets, you can pay in cheque or cash. Please make the cheque payable to John Samuel and send it to Fitzwilliam College (Storey’s Way, Cambridge CB3 0DG), with your name(s) written on the back of the cheque.

You can also pay in cash to any of the campaign team (Alexis de la Ferriere, Caroline Angle, Christel Scheske and Katrin Keuzenkamp). Get in touch if you prefer bank transfer.

Please also email Fiona Kao at jhjs2@cam.ac.uk to register for the event. If you’re a student, please include your name, college, degree and subject (and the same information for any other people you’re registering and paying for).

DEADLINE: 15th February

We’re arranging a seating plan so that everyone will have the chance to meet new people and students from different colleges. We’ll make sure that everyone gets to sit at table with a nice mix of their friends as well as people they don’t know yet. 🙂

Happy 2011!

Hello all,

Hope you had a fab holiday break! For those of you who aren’t on the mailing list (I’m on it, get on it! Here –> https://lists.cam.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/st-edmunds-lgbt )

There are a few events happening over the next couple of weeks:

[no definition] magazine subscription
I’ve signed the college up to receive some copies of the University LGBT magazine [no definition]. These should be delivered to me about once a term and I’ll leave them in the CR with the newspapers if anyone’s interested in having a browse. There are usually some pretty interesting articles. If you’d prefer to receive your own copy delivered discretely to your pigeon hole, you can also sign up here –> http://www.lgbt.cusu.cam.ac.uk/magazine/subscribe

The Lent [no definition] launch party
This is a massive excuse to also have a re-freshers’ party, is this coming Monday i.e. Monday 24 January, 8pm. It’s in Queens’ Old Hall, again, like it was in Michaelmas, because the room is so beautiful and it seems like the rest of our world is not quite aesthetically pleasing enough.

Women’s Formal at Robinson
A few of us have signed up to this already, should be a top night.
To celebrate LGBT History Month, Robinson College is holding a formal exclusively for women*! Feel that wonderful feeling of sitting down at an LGBT formal… next to two girls!
Find out the details and book your place HERE http://goo.gl/4rsOI
– hurry because there are only 34 places and your cheque needs to be received by 24 January.
