If you are interested in setting up a College club or society, please contact the CR Treasurer or Secretary.

2019-2020 Eddie’s Societies:

The Boat Club

The boat club is a hub of college life being the largest of the sports societies the college supports. Every year we recruit not only enthusiastic novices eager to learn new skills and try out a new lycra lifestyle, but also experienced seniors from all around the globe that come willing to share their expertise and develop their rowing further. Supported by dedicated coaches and a determined committee, every member of the club receives the best possible experience of college rowing that can be provided.

For more information please contact stedmunds.captain@cucbc.org.

Chapel Choir

St Edmund’s College Chapel Choir is open to all members of the College community – students, Fellows, staff members, and their families and friends. Members are also welcome from other Cambridge Colleges, and from the wider town community.

Chapel Schola

The Chapel Schola comprises between five and ten excellent singers, who sing at the weekly Latin Mass and on occasional Sunday mornings. It is unique among the Cambridge Chapel Choirs, in that repertoire consists mainly of Latin polyphony and chant and is sung one-/two-to- a-part; contemporary accompanied works are also sung from time to time. Rehearsals take place on Fridays before Mass and membership is open to all students of the University.

Dance Society

Deaddie’s Poets Society

The society will meet twice per term. There will be a chosen theme for each meeting. All participants will bring a poem (which can also be written by him/herself) connected with the theme. Wine and cheese is served curing Deaddie’s Poets Society meetings.

Film Society

The society will meet three times per term. We watch a movie chosen by the participants the previous meeting, and then discuss it (hopefully with food).

Football

Eddie’s Football team is for everyone in college who enjoys the sport. We aim to have casual practice sessions twice a week with the occasional 11-a-side friendly against other college teams. Our team participates in the Cambridge MCR League with games taking place at weekends.

Gardening Society

Plant plants, grow plants, harvest plants, eat plants

St Edmund’s Law Society

The St Edmund’s Law Society organises talks and meals with law firms and barristers (typically once or twice a term). We host an annual Mooting competition, and St Edmund’s typically enters into Mooting Cuppers (Mooting competition between all Cambridge Colleges). All lawyers at Eddies are automatically sent information about these events. For more information, please contact the St Edmund’s Law Society President (Matthew Banks) at mb2199@cam.ac.uk.

LGBTQ+

The LGBTQ+ Officer of the CR has the aim of forming a strong community in our college promoting visibility, inclusivity, and diversity. The activities pursued by this position include weekly bar socials, guest speakers on matters surrounding sexuality and gender, and formal dinners. For more information on the LGBTQ+ community at Eddies, please contact the LGBTQ+ Officer at cr-lgbt@st-edmunds.cam.ac.uk.
